Ship a Tiny API Gateway: Routing, Auth, Rate Limits, Logs
A backend fundamentals session that turns API gateway talk into a working gateway with real tradeoffs.

#api-gateway#backend#auth#rate-limits
Description
section.descriptionAPI gateways sound abstract until you build one. This session creates a small gateway that routes requests, checks auth, applies rate limits, and writes useful logs.
We will compare what belongs in the gateway versus the service behind it, then test failure cases like missing tokens, overloaded clients, and bad upstream responses.
Attendees leave with a practical gateway mental model instead of another architecture diagram.
